Students of Kolymvari Junior High School attended a lecture programme by the Hellenic Coast Guard in order to be informed about the protection of human life and the reduction of accidents and drownings at sea. The main objective of the programme was the consolidation of safety rules for beach stay, swimming, sea and water sports.

Port workers working in the port authorities of Chania took on the role of the presenter-instructor. The lecture material was fit to pull attention and interest of students and included:

·        Tips and rules that children need to know about beach, sea and water sports safety

·        Interactive powerpoints with comic illustrations and related animations to present and explain the security rules to students

·        Educational informational videos designed to stimulate students

·        Newsletters to be distributed in school
