A group of students and teachers visited the Environmental Education Centre of Ierapetra for 2 days. We had prepared a presentation about different types of forest in Crete. On the first day we showed our presentation.

On the second day, the whole team hiked through the pine forest of Koutsouras. There was an amazing view. We hiked through the bank of a dry river, too. The most amazing site in the forest was the entrance of a Gorge called “Gorge of red butterflies”.

There we had to climb up a step ladder on a sharply sloped rock to enter in! Also we took some amazing photos. After our tour guide in the forest of Koutsouras the organizers offered us “dakos” a traditional delicacy in Crete. Later on our way back we talked about our impressions there.

We were very excited. We all learnt about the forests. Also we played games according to our knowledge. Afterwards we went to eat something to keep us up for the rest of the day. Because we had a long way to get back!

During the educational trip the weather was excellent so we successfully completed all the activities. This trip gave us plenty of knowledge about our flora and the history of many trees. At the same time we were informed about how to make good use of what we learnt. Finally we were very pleased and became very informed!!!
